Derek is a Commercial Law Specialist, Lawyer and Mediator

He has an extensive practice which includes acting on major apartment and other property developments, consulting to company directors, on business structuring and director duties and acting for a number of major trusts. 

Derek has been senior legal advisor to the North Harbour Stadium, the Trusts' Stadium in Waitakere City, Bruce Mason Centre and Massey University.  This valuable experience enables him to give his clients sound, realistic commercial advice.

With his interest in sports law, Derek was appointed one of the North Harbour Stadium's foundation trustees, has been North Harbour Rugby Union's solicitor since 1989.  Derek has recently been appointed by the Crown to the Eden Park Trust Board, and as a director of Regional Facilities Auckland, an Auckland Council CCO, which will oversee arts, culture and heritage, leisure, sport and entertainment venues.  

He has been involved with a number of commercial mediations, is trained as a commercial mediator, and believes mediation will be the future preferred option for commercial dispute resolution.
